Best Photo Spots in Hong Kong: #3 Hong Kong Disneyland

Updated: Oct 28

Disneyland is every kid's 'happiest place on earth'. This vibrant, family-friendly place can create unforgettable memories, and fantastic backdrops for a photoshoot. Here are my top tips for a photoshoot in Hong Kong Disneyland, including three photo spots: inside the park, Disney Explorers Lodge Hotel, and Inspiration Lake:

Top 3 Photoshoot Locations in Hong Kong Disneyland

  1. Inside Hong Kong Disneyland Park

The heart of Disney magic lies within the park itself. Here's how to make the most of it:

Best Timing: Schedule your photoshoot on weekdays, ideally early morning when the park opens at 10:30 AM. The park gets crowded later in the day and on weekends, making it harder to capture clean shots.

Top Photo Spots:

  • Cinderella's Castle: The iconic Disney landmark for dreamy, fairy-tale shots.

  • Fantasy Gardens: Fantasy Gardens: Perfect for colourful, grassy backgrounds—maybe you'll bump into mascots!

  • Disneyland Railroad: Great for kids who love transportations.

  • Cinderella Carousel: The all-time favourite at the theme park — ideal for playful, romantic shots.

  • Liki Tikis: A fun, tropical vibe with water mist for playful photos.

Lighting Tip: Avoid indoor rides for photos due to poor lighting conditions. Stick to outdoor areas for well-lit shots.

Refreshments: Take breaks at food stalls offering Disney-themed ice cream and snacks.

Ticket Costs: General admission is HK$669 (Monday–Thursday) or HK$759 (Friday, weekends, and public holidays) for adults. Child and senior tickets are slightly cheaper.

Pro Tip: Arrive early to capture empty backdrops and avoid the midday crowds. Weekdays offer the best chance for serene, crowd-free photos.

  1. Disney Explorers Lodge Hotel

For a resort-like vibe without the park ticket price, Disney Explorers Lodge is a fantastic choice. Its tropical-themed design creates a vacation feel distinct from typical Hong Kong settings.

Why It’s Great: The hotel’s back area is free to access for visitors and features open grassy spaces, palm trees, rocks, and sandy patches. It’s perfect for kids to run around and for relaxed, natural shots.

Top Photo Spots: The palm trees and open spaces give a tropical, getaway aesthetic.

Cost: Free entry to the hotel’s outdoor areas, making it budget-friendly.

Pro Tip: Use the grassy areas for candid shots of kids playing or the palm trees for a tropical, adventurous feel.

  1. Disney Inspiration Lake

As mentioned in my previous blog (Tyler’s Kindergarten Graduation Photoshoot at Disney Inspiration Lake), Inspiration Lake is a peaceful, free-entry park near Hong Kong Disneyland. It's an underrated gem for photoshoots.

Why It’s Great: It’s a safe, relaxing spot for kids to play, making it ideal for natural, candid family photos.

Top Photo Spots: The lake, blue wall, the bridge and greenery provide a calm, scenic backdrop.

Cost: Free entry, making it accessible for everyone.

Pro Tip: Visit in the early morning or late afternoon for soft, golden-hour lighting that enhances your photos.
